Coronarography - is a diagnosis X-ray procedure that allows checking the condition of coronary arteries (the vessels that nourish the heart). It lets identify blockages (occlusions) or constrictions, so called stenosis. It is also possible to determine length and percentage of vascular stenosis during coronarography. It is very important because the quantity of stenosis in one or more arteries, the degree of stenosis and affected artery diameter define further tactic of treatment.
Coronarography is based on the introduction of a radiopaque substance in the arteries of the heart. Then, using a special X-ray machine (angiograph) and computer processing images of the heart vessels in different projections display on the screen. It allows to define vascular lesions.
